Not what my hands have done can save my guilty soul;
Not what my toiling flesh has borne can make my spirit whole.
Not what I feel or do can give me peace with God;
Not all my prayers and sighs and tears can bear my awful load.
Your voice alone, O Lord, can speak to me of grace;
Your power alone, O Son of God, can all my sin erase.
No other work but Yours, no other blood will do;
No strength but that which is divine can bear me safely through.
Thy work alone, O Christ, can ease this weight of sin;
Thy blood alone, O Lamb of God, can give me peace within.
Thy love to me, O God, not mine, O Lord, to Thee,
Can rid me of this dark unrest, And set my spirit free.
I bless the Christ of God; I rest on love divine;
And with unfaltering lip and heart I call this Savior mine.
His cross dispels each doubt; I bury in His tomb
Each thought of unbelief and fear, each lingering shade of gloom.
I praise the God of grace; I trust His truth and might;
He calls me His, I call Him mine, My God, my joy and light.
’Tis He Who saveth me, and freely pardon gives;
I love because He loveth me, I live because He lives.
Horatius Bonar, 1861
I originally found this video from the Heart Cry website. The video is very moving and should be for every true Christian. The video has music in the back ground and the preacher is speaking Danish-though subtitles are provided. I think the Danish language with subtitles has a greater impact, let me know what you think.
Art Azurdia, if not my favorite preacher is up their with Macarthur, Piper, and Paul Washer. One reason Azurdia has affected me so, is because he is a Calvinist that calls people to come to Christ and seems to have a genuine heart for the lost. He is a very passionate preacher that all true Christians should enjoy listenting to. I have attatched and MP3 entitled ‘God Saves Bad People’ (down below, just click on the play button). Christians often “turn their noses up at sinners” and Azurdia calls us as Christians to remember where we came from. Azurdia uses the book of Joshua and uses Rahabs character, to show us that God does indeed save ‘Bad People’, and we have a bit of Rahab in all of us. This message should humble your thoughts and cause you to be more thankful towards Christ for the grace that was given to you. Please check out his website, Spirit Empowered Preaching you can download all his messages for Free!
