Great video. As JD said, this message is so often lost in our day that I suspect if you brought up slavery to Jesus Christ with the average Christian, they wouldn’t even know what you were talking about. It is no wonder that so many will say on that day, “Lord, Lord” (Mt 7:21 ff) and yet be cast away when we consider the “free to do what I will” mentality in the Church today. But even our great works are fruitless if we don’t do “the will of [the] Father who is in heaven.” A slave doesn’t get to choose what good works he does in the name of his master — he is told which ones to do. If he does other “good” works, even in his master’s name, he is a disobedient servant. He has left the narrow way of slavery and gone down the broad road of self-righteousness. It is also no wonder, then, that so few are saved (Matt 7:13-14), since human beings are by their very nature so resistant to slavery. After all, who wants to give up their life, especially when the “American Dream” is to get everything you want?
An important and convicting message that is so often lost in our day.
It always surprises me how controversial “Lordship Salvation” is, when there really is no other type of salvation found in Scripture.
